In 2015, Latin America registered sales for a total volume of 456.2 billion packaged products. The estimate for 2020 indicates an increase of 1.8%, reaching 500 billion units by that date. In the years of the recession, the packaging market saw flexible packaging leading the way, and this category will continue to grow, driven by the demand for multi-pack and low cost products. Small packages will also grow, due to shrinking household budgets. PET bottles will grow the most over the 2015-2020 period. One of the highest growth products will be bottled water, predicted to increase by 5.3% over the period. In the Food market (219.9 billion units in 2015), flexible plastic will drive the market, reaching 2.5 billion units, largely thanks to the increasing popularity of savoury snacks. Cardboard bricks will also grow (CAGR +2.5%) along with small plastic containers (1.6 billion units), thanks to the increased consumption of dairy products and yoghurt respectively. In the Beauty and Personal Care market (24.9 billion units in 2015), spray cans will grow at an estimated CAGR of 6%, while plastic pouches will grow by 13.3%. The Pet Food market (11.2 billion products sold in 2015) will be driven by flexible aluminium packaging and plastic pouches, at an estimated rate of 10% for the period of the survey. Finally, the Home Care market (11.6 billion units in 2015) will be led by PET bottles (+3%), followed by HDPE bottles (+1%).
