The pasta market: a global success
With 1.2 million hectares sown with durum wheat, the raw material of pasta is the first national cereal for cultivated areas. In Italy, 5.6 million tons of semolina are processed for a production exceeding 3 million tons of product. A market in which Italy is the first consumer with 3.51 million tons consumed on an annual basis, leaving room for significant exports. In fact, 56% is exported to France, England, Japan and the USA as the main destination markets: 1 pasta dish out of 4, in the world, is produced in Italy. (source: Unione Italiana Food)
Significant product volumes and a success that can rightly be defined as planetary are also reflected in the market performance of food machinery, one of the flagships of Italian production in the packaging machinery sector.
