Italian milling market: positive data with strong differences
Growing turnover for the Italian milling industry, which reaches 3.850 billion euros in turnover, totalling + 7.5% in the difficult year 2020. There are different trends within the sector, where the channels linked to the bakery world suffer, in particular the milling of soft wheat which falls by 4.2% driven by -7.6% in bakery and -22.8% in pizzerias.
The trend for durum wheat was different, with +9% due to the lesser influence of the crisis in the horeca channels and the positive drive determined by pasta consumption and exports. (Data: Italmopa)
