MEAT-TECH 2021: BIO & GREEN THE NEW FOOD TRENDS IN PACKAGING

The third edition of MEAT-TECH, the IPACK-IMA fair dedicated to innovative materials, processing and packaging solutions for the meat, derivatives and ready meals industry, will take place at Fiera Milano from 17 to 20 May 2021. An exhibition that is completed by spices, flavours and ingredients for the food industry, for a new edition that looks at related sectors and aims to attract visitors from dairy sectors too.

Environmental sensitivity, traceability, food safety, digitalization of production systems, will be the trend topics that the event will offer to supply chains in search of applications to combine great efficiency and added value, in a logic of technology transfer.

Bio and Green push the new consumption habits of restart in the meat and dairy industry. From the data of the observatory "The World After Lockdown" of Nomisma, between March and May 2020, the 30% of Italians has bought organic products with greater continuity; the 20% has paid attention to production methods taking care of the environment and sustainable packaging.

An environmental sensitivity that is transferring from the product to the packaging: 9 out to 10 consumers believe that an organic product must, for consistency, be packaged with green methods, of which the 36% expect a 100% recyclable packaging and the 17% compostable, while 11% would like information on the environmental impact of packaging directly on the label. A growth trend that in Italy has been particularly significant in the last 10 years (+ 597%), with a fifth place position worldwide, behind USA, Germany, France and China in the two-year period 2018-2020 (Source: Nomisma).

A situation of great dynamism in particular in the meat and dairy sectors, in which process and product innovation become a fundamental tool to anticipate new consumer trends.

The presence of specialized exhibitors in the meat and meat products sector, together with "multiproduct" companies, will make the exhibition offer of MEAT-TECH 2021 unique for visitors and buyers looking for innovative solutions and careful market monitoring.
