Labelling and coding: a positive trend

There are 88 companies with a total turnover of 747 million euros, the protagonists of the market represented by the producers of adhesive labels, concentrated in northern Italy with 80% of the companies operating in 5 regions and in particular, Lombardy, Emilia-Romagna, Piedmont, Veneto and Tuscany. A market partly affected by the health crisis of 2020, but with growth prospects if we look at the values of the global printed labels market, which is expected to reach 50.19 billion dollars by 2025, marking a CAGR of + 4.2% for the period 2022-2025. A positive trend is sweeping the industry thanks to a strong push towards digitisation. Manufacturers are also integrating solutions on the software side, interconnecting machines for greater production efficiency. In fact, it is digital printing technology that is driving the new global market, orienting it towards the adoption of new label models capable of performing intelligent functions with a renewed focus on sustainability. The industry is working on paths for companies that can combine automation and sustainability to increase not only productivity but also the quality of production with the search for compostable and recyclable materials.
