Thermo Fisher brings at IPACK-IMA, inspection solutions focused on quality

American provider of scientific technology, reagents, consumables and software services, Thermo Fisher Scientific brings to IPACK-IMA quality assurance systems, with special reference to product inspection solutions for all stages of the manufacturing process, before and after final packaging. We asked Luca Bertona, Southern Europe Commercial Leader, Production Process & Analytics of Thermo Fisher Scientific, for an anticipation of the company’ innovation at the exhibition.

Which technologies are you focusing on at the moment?

“Food safety, product quality and brand protection are of the foremost concern to food processors.  Historically, metal detection technology has been a workhorse for the food industry.  Food plant environments present their own challenges: moisture, vibrations and other environmental factors can interfere with accurate metal detector performance. The device must also log setup changes and store performance statistics for documentation as part of a larger view of a company’s food safety program.

Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Selectscan technology enables food processors to have an easy way to rapidly identify the single best frequency for an application. It tunes out product effect and adapts results to account for temperature changes and electromagnetic interference. At the same time, it provides documentation of results from each production run. It is a completely new and holistic approach.

Selectscan has many automated features that would otherwise require programming by a skilled operator or technician. Central to Selectscan is the Autolearn feature, which takes the guesswork out of optimizing detection performance. Using an intuitive, on-screen wizard, a user is guided through a streamlined setup that can be accomplished in minutes. The result is an operating frequency capable of detecting the smallest metal contaminants tailored to a specific application.

Enabling the highest levels of food safety, Thermo Fisher Scientific provides industry leading detection and accuracy supported by unparalleled applications, ease of use and service support.  Our comprehensive data reporting capabilities ensure that our customers‘ quality management systems, audits and external regulatory requirements are fully met.

What are your expectations of the fair?

We are excited to introduce and demonstrate our leading checkweighing, metal detection and X-ray inspection portfolio to the Food and Pharma industry in person again after two years of mainly virtual or digital interaction. We look forward to networking with our international customers and learning more about how we can help them achieve the highest performance and service levels they need to detect foreign contaminants at any point in their production process.

Thermo Fisher Scientific offers product inspection solutions for all steps in our clients’ manufacturing process, before and after final packaging. From the sensitivity of our metal detectors, to the detection performance of our X-ray systems, and the consistent accuracy of our checkweighers, we are committed to helping you eliminate errors and ensure the highest quality and safety standards of your products which protects your brand as well. . If you are ready to travel and meet in person, come to IPACK-IMA in Milan, on 3-6 May 2022, stop by and see us on booth C11-D10 | Hall 5 to discuss our solution.
